Blues Captain Jacob Sone to Play his 50th
Central Blues Captain Jacob Sone will be playing his 50th game this weekend against the Guelph Gargoyles.
Fittingly the Blues longest serving Captain becomes the first Blues player to have played 50 games for the club. Highlighting his importance to the club is the fact that Jacob has played in nearly all the clubs winning games having only missed two of the clubs 16 victories to date. The Captain has been a part of the Blues football club from day 1 and has gone on to become one of the club’s most decorated players. His career achievements so far include:
- Club Best & Fairest (2007)
- Named Blues Club Captain in 2008
- OAFL All-Star Team Member (2007)
- Northwind Team Member (2007, 2008, 2009)
He is also a member of the “1st 15” group of players to have played for the Navy Blue jumper, in an exhibition match against the Etobicoke Roos. Jacob suited up for every Blues game since the clubs first official OAFL match in 2006 through to 2008 with the streak broken due to Northwind duties which saw him playing for Canada in Australia August ‘08.
A mild mannered persona off the field, Sone – is the ultimate competitor when he crosses the white line. The uncompromising Captain is one who leads by example through his sheer hardworking never-say-die attitude as well as being a vocal on field leader. His dedication to the club is second to none – and it is no surprise that his team is willing to follow him into battle each and every week.
As accomplished as his is in the footballing world, Jacob is just as accomplished off the field having completed his law degree and passed the Bar exam last year. And when he’s not crashing into opposition ruckman and midfielders he can be found at his day job office as a criminal lawyer.
The Central Blues Football Club would like to thank and congratulate Jacob Sone for his loyal and brilliant service to for the club and look forward to many many more seasons with him as their leader.
