Just for OAFL Kidz

Footy is the hottest new sport to hit Toronto, and we want you to be the future starts of this great sport.

There are a number of ways you can learn more about footy and start taking screamers, and kicking bananas in your local neighbourhood. All OAFL clubs have a junior development officer who are committed to welcoming young talent into their clubs. These people will take you under their wing and provide an environment which will develop your footy skills within a great club environment where the team is always more important than the individual. To find which location is most convenient for you, please browse this site or contact us for more information.

‘The Aussie X’ is the official junior development program which is delivered by experienced teachers to schools and youth groups around Ontario. During the specifically tailored program, you will be taught the fundamental skills of footy while also learning some interesting facts about Australia. During 2008, over 11,000 kidz participated in the, based on the success we are hoping to deliver the program to 50,000 kids in 2009. Due to the popularity of The Aussie X Footy clinics in schools and summer camps in 2008, The Aussie X is now providing the opportunity for kids to continue to play Footy outside of school hours in Junior Leagues within the Ontario Australian Football League.

The Aussie X has made a fantastic impression on students, teachers and camp leaders throughout Ontario - here is what some of them have to say;

“Emile from The Aussie X spent a day at Onondaga this summer teaching us footy and the kids absolutely LOVED it! He came fully packed with a video, posters, drills, games and an all-around amazing show for the kids. He was able to keep 50 campers of various ages and abilities motivated and having fun while they eagerly learned this new sport. It was blatantly obvious from the smiles and the constant talk of footy after Emile had left that the Aussie X program was a success at camp! Emile's love for the sport and obvious passion for children made for an incredible day! Thank you!”

Lauchlin Burnett, Commercial Membership and Events Coordinator (OCA),
Onondaga Camp

“The Aussie X is a jam-packed, high energy, engaging program for all high school ages. The inclusive nature of the Footy clinic enables students of every skill level the opportunity to learn and develop skills for a non-mainstream activity in normal every day phys ed classes. The Aussie X is an excellent way to introduce new activities into course curriculum for students who may otherwise become disinterested in physical education programs. It provides students with a fun and exciting sporting experience not offered in their community. We here at Medway High School are ecstatic about having had this opportunity to broaden the scope of activities we are now able to provide for students in our programs. Thanks again Emile and staff, looking forward to working together again and again!”

Greg Henderson
Medway High School

"Travis from The Aussie X did an outstanding job under tough conditions - (facilities and the # of students). Nothing could have been done better. It was very engaging and students enjoyed learning a new exciting game"

Noel Carrabs Senator O'Connor High School

“We just had the pleasure of having the Aussie X experience come to our school for a full week workshop. Australian Rules Footy has now taken our school by storm. The grades 3, 4 & 5 students participated in the workshop. We now have a Footy league at our school that has replaced our flag football league. The Aussie X staff provide very age appropriate games for our students. They were attentive to the varying levels in ability and accommodated for every student. They were fun, approachable and charismatic and had a great knowledge of the game. They displayed a tremendous amount of patience while at the same time keeping all of the students engaged with the program. I strongly recommend this program for any physical education program.”

Jason Amaroso, Physical Education Teacher, Red Willow Public School

“Even after two days of playing and learning this sport, I'm in love with the game. I can’t wait to play it on a regular basis.”

Cody McMahon, student @ Lakefield College

If you would like your school to experience the thrill of footy and at the same time learn about other interesting Australian facts, please ask your teacher to contact us to find out more. We guarantee you wont be disappointed.
