Phoenix Prophecies - Round 14
Can you believe its the FINAL round of the year? To some it may feel like its dragged on a bit but to others the year is barely begun as we roll into September which can only mean one thing, FINALS!!
Lets take a look at the games:
High Park Vs Etobicoke
HN 10AM
Big task for the High Park boys here. Rumour has it as I've mentioned in previous weeks that the demons have up to 15 guys on the long term injury list, and with there key star Floppy only playing a handful of games, the Demons depth has been not only revealed, but molested! This week on the elusive grapevine however I've heard that the Dee's will be taking a full squad (or at least a starting 18) to take on the underfeated Roo's. Can the Dee's pull it off? Highly doubtful, but then again it depends on what superstar Emile is going to do. Running into finals with a week off in the first week he'd like to keep some of his stars with fresh legs by getting some game time, but also there may be a few rookies who need to qualify for finals.. Could be interesting to see what happens. Demons play with some heart, they'll put up a fight. Roo's are too good and will be looking for the undefeated title, and will get it.

Broadview v Central
UTSC 12PM
Going to be a bruising encounter down at the UTSC field this weekend with 5 playing 6! Crackerjack! You know why I love the lead up to finals footy? The gossip! Once again on the rumour mill the Blues suppossedly "tanked" their last game V Guelph to try and stay in 6th to hopefully play the Wildcats rather than the Dingo's. Blue baggers; tsk tsk. The Wildcats may not even hold onto 3rd!! Back to the game at hand however.. Hawks are stupidly red hot at the moment and their Aussie list is one of the best in the league, which I think we all have always known. Its just a matter of pulling it together. And i think they have. Blues dont' have the legs to go with the likes of Walker, Shutts, Jmac, Fraser etc and will rely heavily on Dobson and Andersen for their drive. The little nugget Ando has been carrying a lot of injuries all year and looks to be spent. Hawks far too good in this one, expecting a blow out

Tor. Eagles Vs Hamilton
HN 12pmMATCH OF THE ROUND
Another red hot team is Azza's and Marshy's Eagles. The coaching style of Azza this year has been second to none, and with the aging list he's got he's really getting the most out of his side. Wildcats on the otherhand arent exactly the most skilled guys going around, but watching them against the Roo's last week in Hamilton they were hungry, and desperate, Something alot of teams lack in this league. So its going to be a good one! Both defences are strong with Settle and Thompson leading the charge for Hamilton and Matty B andco on the other end for the Eagles. Both teams have plenty of guys floating around these figureheads to help out so don't expect a big score. The real match winner here will be who can take Marshy? Or better yet, who from the Wildcats can have a better attack and influence on the game? I dont think there is many better than the one Troy Marsh (many of my fans are tipping him to take out the MVP at this Saturdays OAFL Awards Dinner, will be an interesting count!). So whose going to win? This is a real defining moment for both clubs. Hamilton win, they hold 3rd and go into the finals with confidence while the Eagles will be shattered and be stuck with a week off. Roles reversed, Hamilton lose and they may end up meeting the red hot Hawks (RHH) and it will be a tough road to the GF. Tough to call with a lot on the line but...

Tor. Dingos Vs Ottawa
HN 2pm
Big game for the Downtwon boys as they play the visiting Swans. The Swannies may be a show here for a few reasons. Its awards night so perhaps they have convinced enough of the roster to make it to TO for the weekend? They have come along AWESOME this year with 4 wins on the board dusting off a depleted demons last week. Dingos have suffered too big losses in recent weeks to the Hammer boys and to the folks from Broadie, 2 of which will be in their way for the cup come the first weekend in Oct. If the Swans can maintain the run and be accountable, they'll have a dip. If the Dingos can exploit the slow legs of the 401 drive then they should blow this game apart.

Guelph vs Tor. Rebels
HN 4pm
LAST OAFL REGULAR SEASON GAME OF THE YEAR!! Both teams will be keen to get this underway and hit up the Cool Brewery following the match for some ales! I'll be honest, both sides have had pretty ordinary years. Guelph barely holding onto 7th place on the ladder (many tipped them top 4) and Rebels sitting 9th. In what may be regarded as a "non match" I'm sure both clubs will be hitting this match at full speed as they fight for a bit of pride. With Slingo's farewell done and dusted the Guelph boys must be feeling a little lonely down the other end of the 401, but with the long weekend to recover, they should prove to good for the Rebels and try and salvage what has been a pretty disappointing year.

Thats it for me from another week, will hopefully see you ALL at the Cool Brewery this Saturday for the OAFL Awards Dinner. Apparently I am scheduled to do a strip show as the opening act so be sure to be there on time!! (7:30)
